Homework Tips

you need to know that if you are going to get the best score possible and the best degree and qualification possible, being successful at homework goes a long way to making it happen. However, we've got some tips that can make this process a bit easier.

Help you children with their homework

When you are lending a hand with homework help, there are five key things you should do.

  1. You should start the process of homework help by first admitting to yourself and to your child that not knowing what to do next can be incredibly stressful. You can get rid of some of these feelings by acknowledging that this is normal and stressful for both of you. Ignoring these feelings or making them feel worse will only make the situation worse. Let the child know how proud you are of the fact that they are doing their homework anyway and that they are asking for help. Acknowledging that a child is prepared will help you both to move forward.
  2. In lieu of asking the child to tell you what their teacher said in class, ask them to give you an example of their problems. Have them show you the problem they did in class or one in the textbook that has the answer with it.
  3. If your child is unable to find an example problem, try to find one online. If there is a keyword involved in the homework problems, find the concepts and operations that are behind it. Review their textbook and worksheets for a related term and search for that online. You can input the problem or the term and chances are you will find a list of websites that help with that concept specifically. Talk to your child about which site you will use and why you are going to use them. If the first one you use does not work, then try a few more. This will help not only to better explain the concept but it will showcase how to use the internet as a resource for students. It will also give them a chance to see which sites are reliable and helpful, and examples of sites that are not.
  4. After you have found a sample problem, ask your child to show you how the teacher did it in class. Having a completed example in front of them will help them to recall instructions or discussions that were given in class.
  5. Use this sample in conjunction with anything they were able to recall from class to identify the steps they need to take in order to solve their homework. Make notes of the steps they were able to recall and fill in the gaps together.
